A Fine Farewell

One fine day, an era died,
its time had slipped away.
The echoes dimmed,
the footsteps sighed,
no voice was left to stay.

The walls once filled with life and sound,
stood quiet, cold, and bare.
The past had crumbled to the ground,
but change was in the air.

For endings pave a path anew,
though shadows stretch and sway.
The sun still shines, the sky stays blue,
and night gives in to day.
