Sowing Hope

Far from my homeland,
I sowed my favorite crop,
pouring into it my time,
money, and countless sweat drops.

The climate proved a challenging foe,
yet hope within me continued to grow.
When asked if I had sown, I'd often deny,
to avoid sounding foolish, I'd let the question fly.

Advice came pouring from those around,
and I listened, my ears eager to resound.
Though doubts loomed, my heart held on,
to the dream of my favorite crop, not yet gone.

The land, for now, lies barren and still,
but I gather ideas, seeking inspiration's thrill,
I play on its soil, a respite from the grind,
while awaiting the day my dreams unwind.
