Winter Sun

They called it the winter sun,
bright, yet never warm enough.
“If it truly cared to shine,
why does the air feel cold and rough?”

The snow that paints the peaks in silver
is taken as proof it fell behind.
Not knowing they would gleam in gold,
had the season let the sun align.
